Seeking Excellent Educational Development (SEED)
SEED is a program which matches a sponsor/mentor to either a grade, curriculum special, or club at St. Leo the Great School. Local businesses, current St. Leo the Great School families, and former families comprise our sponsors for the 2007 - 2008 school year.

Motivational & Spiritual Initiative
In response to the interest of current and potential sponsors we have developed additional sponsorships which comprise the Motivational & Spiritual Initiative.

The goal of the SEED program is to foster unique and beneficial relationships between a sponsor/mentor and a classroom or learning area as well as to provide additional funds for enhancement and enrichment of the current curriculums.

The sponsor's generosity is acknowledge in several ways. Some of the recognizable benefits include an individual plaque that is displayed outside of the classroom or learning area of their selected sponsorship as well as a large plaque displayed in the school lobby.

For more information about the SEED program, please contact the school's Director of Development, Janice Nikoloff at (717) 392-8450 or e-mail development.director@stleoschool.org.

Financial Aid

Voluntary Tuition Assistance Program
The Voluntary Tuition Assistance Program (VTAP) is a program developed by the school board to assist school families with meeting the rising cost of quality Catholic education. It is also commonly referred to as the SCRIP program.

This program allows families to lower their tuition through the purchasing of grocery certificates and gift certificates.

The school will track the amount of certificates that each family purchases throughout the year. At the end of the year, the families' total amount of purchases will be compared to a purchasing scale. Various levels of tuition discount, based on the total amount purchased, will be refunded. The discount amount will be refunded to the family prior to their last tuition payment. The family can apply the refund to their last tuition bill, keep their refund and pay their last tuition bill in full, or donate the refund to the school. The choice is theirs.

Orders are tracked from March 1 - February 28. Based on the family's purchased amount, the following level of discounts will be applied to that family's full tuition:
Average monthly purchased amount
% reduction from full tuition
$1000
10%
$800 - $999
8%
$600 - $799

$500 - $599

$400 - $499

$300 - $399

Participating Merchants
Certificates are purchased at a discount from various merchants and clearing houses. Then the certificates are sold at face value to school families and parishioners. The discounted savings are kept by the school and for family reimbursement.

Certificates are available for a wide variety of merchants, such as restaurants, retail store locations, online-shopping, and local grocery stores. They are spent the same as cash.

To see a current and complete list of participating retailers, visit the Great Lakes Scrip Center web site.

Ordering Certificates
Certificates can be purchased at the school office or by special order forms given to school families. Order forms are to be turned in to the school office. You may stop in during normal office hours (including summertime) or send an order to school through your child's school mail.

All orders for certificates must be paid for at the time of purchase. If a requested certificate is not currently in stock, an order will be placed for that request. Again, this type of order must be pre-paid.

As an added convenience, certificates for grocery stores can be purchased after all weekend masses.

When paying by check, please note that payment for grocery certificates should be made payable to "St. Leo the Great" and payment for other certificates should be made payable to "SCRIP".

For more information, please contact the school office at 717-392-2441 or email grihaly@stleoschool.org.
