Youth Ministry

Mission and Purpose:

Youth Ministry at Saint Leo the Great offers vibrant, energetic, social, Catholic, service-driven, and most importantly, Christ-Centered youth programming. The mission is simple – to have our children grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ and His One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

Mrs. Beth Christensen

Coordinator of Youth Ministry
Mrs. Beth Christensen has over 15 years experience working with Catholic young adults and high schoolers. She has directed and led a variety of retreats, including diocesan Confirmation Rallies, given talks, and taught high school Catholic Church History, Morality, and Sacred Scripture classes.

Beth currently serves at the coordinator of the Good Samaritan Program at Lancaster Catholic High School. She plays guitar and enjoys running and reading. With her husband, John, by her side – the two have been called to one mission – to lay down their lives for the youth of our parish community. The Christensens’ have four children – Gabby, Jake, Nora Jane and Josiah Mary, who is in Heaven with the Lord.

Weber Activities Center – the Youth Ministry Center
A variety of activities take place each month in the newly remodeled Weber Activities Center, located behind the rectory and convent. The center houses a pool table, foosball, ping-pong table, large screen with projector, X-Box, and a variety of game boards and card games. “The WAC,” as it has been nicknamed, is seasonally updated.

Adult Youth Ministry Core Team

We are currently looking for volunteers to serve in our Adult Core Team to help with a variety of youth ministry events and activities. Volunteers will not be required to attend all events. Chaperones are needed for trips to Hershey Park and our Magical Mystery Tours throughout the year. Adults interested in volunteering should contact Beth Christensen. Diocesan Youth Clearance Badges are required at all activities.
